About Ferring Rife Wildlife

The word ‘Rife’ is from old Sussex dialect meaning a stream, especially between Selsey and Worthing.

Ferring rife is formed by several smaller streams from the areas of West Durrington, Castle Goring, Angmering and Titnore woods. They converge and form the Ferring Rife which heads south to flow out into the English channel between Ferring and East Preston.

Ferring Rife Wildlife was created in May 2024, initially as a Facebook group aimed at showing the flora and fauna of this special place in the village of Ferring, West Sussex.

As time went by it became apparent that there was a wonderful variety of species to be seen and thoughts turned to the photographic records of these now becoming something that would help with the conservation, education and enjoyment of this place.

The Facebook group is open to anyone to join, where you can post your own pictures, ask questions and discuss topics regarding the rife.
