Wren.

A beautiful Wren singing for all it is worth in a tree next to the Rife.

Little Egret.

Little Egret fishing and then flying away.

Kestrel.

Beautiful male Kestrel in the trees by the Ferring Country Centre.

Kestrel static gliding (sometimes refered to as hovering) over the banks of the Rife.

Fox.

Wonderful fox out in the open. They are often seen during quieter times on both sides of the Rife.

This one was on the east side near to the Brook Lane footbridge.

Greenfinch.

A flock of Greenfinches have been settled at the Rife for several weeks now. (March-April 2025).

Most sightings on the west side about half way down.

Skylark.

A large flock of Skylarks can be seen in the fields to the west of the Rife between the Ferring Country centre and East Preston (April 2025).

These ground nesting birds are difficult to spot when they have landed, but there is no mistaking them when in the air with their wonderful singing.

Heron.

This is a funny and fascinating four minute video of a Heron ‘playing’ with a stick.

This was February 2025 and I wonder if the bird was starting to think about nest building ?

Collard Dove.

A slightly confused Collard Dove. There are often a few of these wonderful birds to be seen at the southern end of the Rife.
